An Environmentally Conscious Choice

Sustainability is the key to a better future.

That includes sustainable packaging materials as well as manufacturing and business practices. At Bulldog Bag Ltd., we actively take measures to protect our environment through waste diversion and reduction and using sustainable and compostable materials, including post-consumer recycled paper with water-based inks where possible.

Contributing to the Circular Economy

Throughout the manufacturing process, scrap materials are generated. While we strive to minimize this, it is often unavoidable when calibrating equipment and testing for production runs. However, these materials are prime recyclable content as it has not yet been contaminated or mixed with other materials.

Over the last 12 months, Bulldog Bag Ltd. collected 1 078 348 pounds (~489 tons) of LDPE and 105 664 pounds (~48 tons) of laminated film scrap.

The collected material was sent to a recycling center for balling and recycling into pellets, which are primarily used to manufacture bin liners.

In 2021 Bulldog Bag collected and diverted 397 tons of mixed paper scrap, 54 tons of paperboard cores and 24 tons of cardboard.

According to Urban Impact that’s equal to saving 8 876 trees, 13 833 307 liters of water, and 2 140 417 kWh of Electricity.

The collected materials are diverted away from landfills, towards making new cardboard boxes, paper-based plant pots, drywall liner and brown paper products.

Recycling these materials helps replenish raw material stocks and diverts potential waste away from landfills where waste leakage / seepage can contribute to pollution.

Initial Report under the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act

This initial report has been prepared, pursuant to the requirements set out in the act, describing the steps the company took during the financial year ending 31 October 2023, to prevent and reduce the risk that forced labour and child labour was used at any step of the manufacturing of goods in Canada or of goods imported into Canada by Bulldog Bag Ltd.

Innovative Material

Closing the loop on post-consumer materials remains a challenge. Often packaging materials require specific barrier properties to reduce further waste from product damage or shortened shelf life and spoilage. Bulldog Bag Ltd. is constantly seeking out and using more sustainable materials and methods to make quality packaging products that still meet your packaging needs.
